Some People Just Don’t Get It

It all began when the developer of Tweetie, Loren Brichter, introduced the Popularity EnhancEr (PEE) in the version 1.2. The topic began trending on twitter and people got really excited about the update. Now, who would want to buy a separate FART app and a Flashlight app when you get both of them in one single app AND a twitter client built with it, right? NO! Some people just don’t get the joke.

…if I want a fart app, I know where to get it. DO NOT put it inside another app and disguise it or fail to mention that my iPhone may emit a farting sound. And furthermore … I’m not sure how long it takes to add such functionality to a Twitter app but I’m asking myself what else the developer could have used his time for that might pay off toward my $3 investment. Because now, I’ve gone and done what I swore I’d never do. Via trickery, I paid money for and downloaded an app that farts. I don’t care if the app feeds starving children. DO NOT insult my intelligence by adding something so childish.

Sadly (or not sadly depending on your view) Tweetie is still a great Twitter client as long as there are no fart sounds. But whether or not it will remain so with future updates is anyone’s guess because if the developer continues to bloat the code with (pardon the pun) crap, well then who knows. Prior to 1.2, Tweetie worked because it was simple and elegant and smart. Now it’s got a fart app inserted inside it. So you tell me if it’s still simple, elegant and smart.

Now, it took a while after “trading some tweets with the developers” to sort this out, says the update on the site.

The option for fart sounds and flashlight is present in the settings app, is off by default and you have to switch it ON before it starts to annoy you. I don’t see where the problem lies
