I finally have true unlimited broadband

And I can proudly call myself an “Airtel-Boy”. I have now made the switch onto Airtel Broadband making me someone who uses Airtel services only. I have a Airtel postpaid connection with unlimited EDGE connection on it and an Airtel Landline phone with an unlimited 512kbps broadband connection on it.

I’ve had a MTNL Triband connection for the past 3+ years. I have had absolutely zero issues with the connection. The connection was stable, gave good speeds and rarely went down. However, I had two issues with MTNL and I have previously written about it here, here and here, with a special mention of this particular post. The two primary issues were:

1) Lack of an unlimited connection
2) Pathetic customer service

Fortunately, I was successful in convincing the society committee to allow Airtel to lay their cables in the society and I received my connection a week back. So far, I am extremely happy with the performance the connection has been giving me.

I have opted for their 512kbps unlimited plan allowing me to upload and download without those sleepless nights and without even a bit on worry. Interestingly, even though it’s a 512kbps plan, I get speeds upwards of 800kbps. Torrent download speed touch a high of 120KB/s with the low being around 85KB/s. I couldn’t be more happy.

If you aren’t yet on Airtel Broadband, I’d advice you to make the move now.

Lucky guy.

Me too will probably have one in 5-6 months.
Now, I make the most use of the free time I have in my plan.
0200-0800.

How much are you paying monthly for that unlimited plan?

Aayush,
I was going to take the 1Mbps plan, yes. But thought 512kbps would do fine. I can say I was right :)

Aravind,
I pay Rs. 799 for this plan.

Me waiting for my current TATA pack to get over, their local network is messed up, there are computers infected and loading the servers affecting connectivity, but these guys can’t seem to figure out what to do, inspite of me telling me some IPs that are spoofing.

Currently AirTel is not available here, but will be inquiring about it.

799/-? You serious!

Hold your horses! Airtel broadband tends to go down all of a sudden and with no solace for as long as 2 sometimes 3 days at a stretch. Having still been using it (and as a result, losing it!) Thought must warn you as well…

I always loved Airtel.. best communications provider in India by far.. everything else totally sucks (though i don’t have much experience with BSNL)
I am planning to shift out of the hostel in a couple of months and most probably, we will also get an Airtel internet connection.

My Experience with Airtel was not so pleasant. They used to send me 3 Bills for One Month all having Different Values :| I Think I got my Connection Disconnected after some 4-5 Horrible Months

I had use airtel earlier, they were very good for first 3 motnhs, but then after that servers were down, getting extra bills, they start cheating u, if u take landline even worst. and VERY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER CARE, IF INTERNET STOPS WORKING, THEY WILL PROBALLY COME AFTER 5 DAYS TO IDENIFY THE PROBLEM AND THEM AFTER 3 DAYS THEY COME AND REPAIR, HORRIBLE CONNECTION
well using sify now, on private basis 512 kbps unlimted wireless in mumbai paying 2500 a month, ( excellelant customer care, if call in morning be there by after noon or first thing next day. this plan is not yet launched to public, but will be soon

Hi Preshit

I’m too looking to make the move to Airtel BB :)
Their tariff rates are hard to compete with, atleast in Mumbai

Whom did you approach for this service., as I’m not an Airtel Customer?
and where exactly do you live in Mumbai?
Pz revert, as I have no clue as to how to go about

@thewisecrab:

I got hold of a guy who scouts for areas so that Airtel can lay their cables in the area. And then everything happened from there onwards.

I’m in Malad(W) in Mumbai.
