TataSky - A review [ Part One ]
I had become tired of my cablewallah’s services. They were pathetic. 50% of the English channels were either blocked, or were telecasted in poor conditions. Lot of picture noise, low quality were “normal”.
And well, CAS was going to be made compulsary in Mumbai suburban area in a month or two anyway.
I really wanted to go DTH. I’d read a _lot_ about interactive TV, and was really keen on taking either Dish TV or TataSky. I started to read online reviews, consulting friends who had either of the two installed and I even went and got a demo of both. Now, from what I concluded, TataSky and DishTV both have the same quality of video and audio, since both apparently use the same technology. The difference, something that really convinced me to make my decision was the “service” factor. TataSky customer care ( be it clients-oriented or pre-sales ) is extremely superior to what DishTV offers. Not only the customer care, but the after sales service by TataSky is also great.
Let me write my experience in 3 steps.
1) Pre-sales / enquiry / reviews etc
1) Pre-Sales experience :
After I made up my mind, I gave a call to their customer care number on 1860 425 6633 / 020-66006633. I was greeted with an automated message welcoming me to TataSky. I was told to choose my preferred language and select whether I was an existing customer, or a potential one. After this, I was instantly speaking to an executive, who politely wished me and thanked me for showing interest in their services. That’s right. NO waiting time at all. I had plenty of time on hand, and so, I told her to explain to me about their service. I was told that I’d be transferred to their specialised desk, which I was, within 2 minutes. The executive here explained to me every single feature of TataSky which lasted for about 25 minutes. The executive was very well trained, and knew exactly what he was speaking. I was satisfied, so I told him I’ll get back to them in a day or too. They noted down my details.
I again had to call them up, since I had a few more doubts the next day. This time, it was nothing different. I was politely wished, and the doubts were answered pretty quickly. Their customer service gets a 5/5 from me.
I’d really like to mention here that their customer service is the BEST I have experienced so far. One should learn to have “patience” from them. You can put them on hold, go do something and come back and they’ll be still there to say “Welcome back, sir” with a smile.
Now, I had to contact them 4-5 more times for some doubts and not a single time did I receive a different service.
I went ahead and ordered two TataSky boxes, and their executive was very helpful in assisting me. The order process took about 10 minutes, since I was paying by Credit Card. You also have the option to order a Free Home delivery and Cash-On-Delivery.
I was told that I would be receiving the boxes 3 days later.
